bah humbug (or merry xmas to some)
Christmas has always been a very casual affair in my family I guess being brought up by an atheist and an agnostic will do that for you! We would normally rise early for present opening. Fix a cup of coffee. Open presents. Have breakfast (croissants) and then set about our day relaxing and hiding from the scorching summer heat outside. Lunch would be a cold affair with leg of ham and summer fruits and a glass of champagne (or fruit juice) or even a nice cold beer. Present giving was easy and practical. I love buying things for other people but never knew what to tell people to get for myself (due to bad impulse shopping habits I normally buy anything I want)
This year I will be heading down to spend christmas with my boyfriends family in Melbourne. It is a bit nerve-wracking for me as I haven’t met his family (apart from one very weird awkward meeting of his younger sister) but I know christmas for them is a much more formal affair with the whole roast she-bang! At any rate it should be different and perhaps restore some of the Xmas spirit in me.
I hope everyone who reads this has a safe and happy holiday season doing whatever you like best ♥
